Lecture & Lunch at the Beach Club

The Art & Antique Design Center

The tour begins at 10AM at the Benzaiten Center. For our portion of the tour, we have chosen an Afrocentric theme to celebrate the many rich cultural offerings found in Palm Beach County. The tour begins at 10AM at the Benzaiten Center with a narrated glassblowing demo featuring staff member, Grace Chepenik, whose large-scale blown glass orchid creations captivated art lovers at Red Dot during Art Basel. She will be blowing an Ansellia Africana or Leopard Orchid in honor of our theme.
Next, we will be teaming up with the Weiner Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA). In tandem with the Ardmore exhibit we plan to also showcase Palm Beach County artist, Anthony Burks, an African-American Florida native who is well-known for his Afrocentric artwork. After Grace’s demo we will hear from Louise Irvine, Executive Director of WMODA about the history and founding of the Ardmore Ceramic Studio in South Africa. Then everyone will take a trolley over to the Beach Club where they will eat lunch and hear a talk by Lawrence Cassenti, the General Manager of the Gulf Stream Hotel, who will give a presentation on the newly renovated historic Gulfstream Hotel explaining how they incorporated local art, cultural and historic references throughout this 1925 iconic building.
Note: The Palm Beach Art, Antique & Design Center represents over fifty artists and galleries!
